Cogen is the final piece of Scriptliss' soul, transformed into a crystal with the ability to communicate telepathically. They serve as the replacement of Aaron O'Nare for Chapter 8, having the ability of relaying that characters are saying and thinking, no matter the distance. Cogen is very direct and monotone in attitude, though they still conceive other's feelings.
Synopsis[]
Chapter 8[]
Cogen first appears in the green cut portal. He acts as a guide to the heroes, providing information about how interdimensional travel works and reading characters' minds when they travel through different cut portals. They eventually get to Auxim, Antagon's hometown, which is close to Antagon's base, Inferno Fortress. Antagmom defeats the Banland Security Guards that block the path to Inferno Fortress, allowing Cogen and the heroes to cross the Oblivion Badlands and enter the fortress.
In Inferno Fortress, a brainwashed 1x1x1x1 teases and enrages Scriptliss, who wants his friend, Tess Aract, back. Cogen tries to calm Scriptliss down, but Scriptliss fights 1x1x1x1. Cogen later appears when Scriptliss and 1x1x1x1 are flying at a distance from the protagonist and speaking to each other. Using his telepathic powers, Cogen reveals their conversation, in which 1x1x1x1 reveals that Antagon freed Scriptliss from his imprisonment in The Wastebasket. Cogen reveals Scriptliss' distressed thoughts to the protagonist, and then 1x1x1x1 leaves. Further in Inferno Fortress, he is found with a crying Scriptliss, as Scriptliss killed who used to be his best friend, 1x1x1x1. Scriptliss then tells Cogen and the protagonist where Antagon went, and Cogen assures that they will come back for him. Cogen and the protagonist leave Scriptliss, as they progress further in the fortress to find Antagon.
Epilogue[]
He appears with Scriptliss in Epilogue Expanse, and they have a conversation with Dusekkar about Tess and 1x1x1x1. During the conversation, Cogen reads Dusekkar's mind without his permission, saying that Dusekkar is wondering about spacial distortions in the Old World, so Dusekkar tells Scriptliss to get a leash for Cogen. Scriptliss takes it literally and says that he will, but then Dusekkar tells him that it was a figure of speech. Dusekkar says that Scriptliss should just make sure that Cogen is not reading people's minds without their permission.
Cogen later watches the performance at The Furnace from the top of a Box Ness Monster.
Secret Ending[]
He bids farewell to the protagonist near the entrance to Ruby Sands.
Card[]
I have no idea where this is found. Been a while, boys. I think it's somewhere on the side of that one fire-tightrope-grid thing in the middle of the Chapter 8 castle. Beet Bowl has that one card video; check it out iguesslol.
As it turns out, Cogen's card can be found in Paper Boxia, which can be accessed through a hidden box tunnel.
Card Description: "A floating red crystal which is the final form of the last piece of Scriptliss's soul. This form only appears when Scriptliss travels to other dimensions. Cogen has its own cognitive thought process, allowing it to move and speak on its own accord. It communicates telepathically and can even allow you to listen in on characters who are out of earshot."
Developer Comments: "Little-known fact: Ever since Cogen was materialized out of the last piece of Scriptliss's soul, Scriptliss can summon Cogen at will."
Trivia[]
- The same mind-reading ability of Cogen's seems to apply to Dusekkar; when Cogen reads Dusekkar's mind, it reads that he is aware what Cogen's intent is, which kind of proves psychics wouldn't do much if they read eachother's minds.
- As hinted to in the card description, it's name likely comes from the idea of thought cognition.
Dialogue[]
Chapter 8[]
- "Scriptliss is currently in his 'true from'. He appears this way whenever he travels to other dimensions outside of Paper Robloxia. I am the final piece of Scriptliss's soul, transformed into a octahedral-shaped crystal with the ability to communicate telepathically. You may call me Cogen."
- "I am mainly here to serve as a replacement for Aaron O'Nare for the duration of Chapter 8. Not only am I a useful vessel of information, but I can relay what characters are saying and thinking, even from far away."
- "Our journey is a long and arduous one. We will be travelling through numerous dimensions to reach Antagon, each one being stranger than the last. We are currently within a 'cut' dimension, a pocket of abstract space between two major dimensions. I highly advise you to avoid touching the spinning sparkles."
- "Jump into the large portal at the end, which looks similar to the one you went through to get here. Doing so will send you to Paper Boxia, the dimension adjacent to Paper Robloxia."
- "Yes, that's the idea. There are many more elements involved here, but for the sake of simplicity, going through the portals is what you should be focusing on."
- "It would be in your best interest to jump into the portal below us. The rest of your friends are waiting for you there."
- "There are weirder dimensions, trust me. Aside from Paper Robloxia, this is as mild as it gets."
- "This may seem a bit intrusive, but... Allow me to tap into Dusekkar's thoughts. You may want to hear some of it."
- "Well, that was a pretty bad idea to begin with. Sorry!"
- "To get to Antagon, we must travel through several dimensions in a linear order, using cut dimensions as gateways between major dimensions. The dimensions cannot be reached in any order you wish; it is all based on the structure of said dimensions."
- "Imagine each major dimension as a completely flat surface, like a piece of paper. This idea was first introduced in Paper Roblox 2: Beyond the Fold, where a corner of Paper Robloxia was actually demonstrating its paper-esque properties."
- "Now, if we consider each dimension to be a flat piece of paper, and these pieces of paper are stacked on top of each other, it would make sense that you would have to travel through several pieces of dimensional paper to get to one that was much lower on the stack. This property is exactly why there is an order to the dimensions we are travelling through."
- "...I'm afraid it's true. To some extent, our current efforts are going to be completely futile."
- "Rozanda escapes through a portal using pin magic. Not even a second passes before the portal disappears."
- "I'm not going to spoil anything else."
- "(An entirely different reality from ours existed before the Plot Book, now commonly referred to as the 'Old World'. As of now, it is a desolate place devoid of any life. The transition between the Old World and the reality we live in was a rocky one, resulting in many controversial events which Dusekkar is often blamed for.)"
- "A red portal appears behind Clockwork."
- "(The next dimension isn't much better, you know...)"
- "Now, if all of the dimensions are piled on top of each other like a stack of paper, what is a common object that consists of many papers bound together? A book, or more precisely, the Plot Book. Yes, the Plot Book is a literal representation of every dimension that exists within our reality."
- "Of course, there are many other planes of reality that exist as well, the most notable being the Old World. The very creation of the Plot Book marked the beginning of a powerful crusade to a new reality where all previous gods had no power. Though some of the gods were simply abstract cuckooland beings like Clockwork, many of them could be considered brazen tyrants."
- "And though Dusekkar spent many of his days and nights working out deals and compromises to please the gods, he could not please everyone. It was only natural that a few individuals managed to find something about Dusekkar which they could despise."
- "Hey, look at it this way: at least your new look helps you fit in here!"
- "Yes, it certainly has an unsettling atmosphere. It looks more like a shrine, really."
- "But you were given a second chance to turn your life around. Tess, on the other hand, was not."
- "I'm not even sure why. Perhaps we'll be able to find out more about it later."
- "A mind-controlled dragon. A teleporting crown of dark energy. A casino that holds many unwary Robloxians captive. A terror of the void, mind controlled and overloaded with dark energy. A jailbreak in the netherworld. The Plot Book is capable of all of these things, and much more."
- "Will Antagon be able to grasp the full potential of the Plot Book? Or will he make a terrible mistake? Will he be pushed to desperation? What is the ultimate fate of our reality?"
- "This is a dead end. The exit is much higher up than you might expect."
- "Well, the road we're standing on does have a lot of eyes on it."
- "Oh yeah, what's up with them? They're all wearing the same clothes... And what's up with those pendants?"
- "Shreddly jumps off the cliff, rides across the half-pipe, then does a bunch of insane tricks at the end. It was very awesome."
- "(Do you have any better ideas?)"
- "Antagmom storms out the back door. She slams the door so hard that even the ground shakes. Screaming and shouting can be heard outside."
- "Scriptliss, contain your anger. He's just trying to get you frustrated."
- "*sigh* Scriptliss, you really don't want to do this."
- "1x1x1x1 flies up into the air, disappearing somewhere in the sky. Scriptliss flies into the air as well, pursuing 1x1x1x1. Looks like he took the bait."
- "Scriptliss and 1x1x1x1 are currently locked in battle... somewhere in this place. Let's use this as an opportunity to continue searching for Antagon."
- "Ah, there they are. Allow me to relay their conversation to you telepathically."
- "Scriptliss, no! Don't listen to him!"
- "Whoa, I'm recieving an overload of distressed thoughts coming from Scriptliss. Allow me to relay them to you."
- "Scriptliss, snap out of it! Antagon released 1x1x1x1 to brainwash him and use him as a tool! He's trying to do the same to you! Don't fall victim to his schemes! You owe Antagon nothing! He's the enemy!"
- "Ugh, this is not good. You go ahead to the path on the right. I'm going to stay here with Scriptliss."
- "Scriptliss and 1x1x1x1 just flew off again... Looks like you just got saved from a fate potentially worse than death! Here's to hoping that Scriptliss won't do anything else drastic..."
- "Scriptliss... What happened here?"
- "I see... That spot on the ground must be his remains, then..."
- "Well, I'm not self-destructing, if that's what you're suggesting. We still have to look for Antagon."
- "...Alright, but we're coming back for you. Just stay here, okay?"
- "Dusekkar scribbles something on a scrap of paper."
Epilogue[]
- "1x1x1x1's origins lie beyond recorded history. There is some evidence that 1x1x1x1's existence perpetuated by a spacial distortion in the abandoned reality known as the Old World."
- "Dusekkar is wondering if there are other spacial distortions in the Old World, and how deeply they have seeded themselves in our reality over the course of a few thousand years."
- "Sorry."
- "Guys... I'm right here, you know..."
Secret Ending[]
- "I guess this is goodbye for now. Until next time..."
